We’ve developed a 4-step process that enables you to publish world-class content and position yourself as an industry thought leader without writing a single word yourself. We refer to it as the 4Cs of Content Creation: Clarify, Capture, Create, and Complete.
1. Clarify
The first step of our process is gaining clarity about your business—who you are, what you do, how you do it, and why. We want to get to know you, understand your goals, and determine how content will fit into your larger marketing strategy.
We’ll also discuss who your audience is and what kind of topics and themes matter to them. And we’ll ask you the big question: What do you want to share with the world?
The information and ideas we capture during the Clarify phase lay the foundation for everything that follows—from your customized content strategy to actual blog topics to social media themes.
We can always revisit and update the information gathered at a later point in our engagement if needed, but for the most part, this is the one piece of our process that isn’t ongoing.
Here’s what to expect during the Clarify phase:
- You receive and complete a deep-dive questionnaire before an initial kickoff meeting
- We have an in-depth content kickoff meeting over Zoom
- Your team provides account access to our team
- Your team provides any necessary brand assets and guidelines
- Our team builds a content strategy based on our meeting, the supplemental information you provide, and your goals
2. Capture
Now we’re ready for our ongoing engagement to truly begin. Each of the steps that follow will occur regularly, with the goal of generating consistent content.
In the Capture phase, your dedicated Content Lead will gather raw information from a subject matter expert at your company through a Content Conversation℠.
This conversation is how we help you share YOUR ideas in YOUR voice.
We interview via Zoom and cover two to four topics in under 90 minutes. The Content Lead asks thought-provoking and clarifying questions, takes detailed notes, and records the interview so our writers can produce a piece of content written in your voice.
Some topics require technical information that another subject matter expert on your team might have more readily available. In that case, we invite them to the call and get their insights simultaneously.
We also use the Content Conversation time to resolve any outstanding administrative items. If your Content Champion —the point person on your team—is someone other than yourself, we make sure they’re on the call so that they’re aware of any developments and open items.
3. Create
The Create phase of our process is where the magic happens—your content is written without you ever having to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard).
Our writers complete a polished first draft, which goes through a rigorous internal editing and quality assurance process before being sent for client review.
Our clients review the content and provide feedback, which we incorporate quickly. Once client feedback has been integrated, we send the content back for a final client review and approval to publish.
Typically this phase requires no more than an hour of a client’s time every month—many clients spend less than 30 minutes reviewing and approving their content.
4. Complete
In the Complete phase, the content is deployed across designated channels. It takes approximately six weeks from the initial kickoff call to publishing the first blog post. Once we’re up and running, we deliver assets monthly.
For maximum effectiveness, we make sure your content deploys on a regular schedule as well. Some of our clients leverage in-house resources to deploy their content, but we’re more than happy to provide these services for you as an alternative.
