How to Prepare for a Content Conversation

Want to create world-class content that shares YOUR ideas and sounds like YOU without writing a single word yourself?

It might sound like a dream, but Every Little Word has a signature process that makes it a reality. Our unique Content Conversation℠ approach allows you to get your ideas into the world—no writing required!

Capturing Your Ideas with a Content Conversation

Wondering how it works? Here’s a taste of our secret sauce.

We conduct regular interviews where you show up as the industry leader you are, and we turn your words into powerful marketing materials for blog, email, and social media content.

We’ll meet with you monthly via Zoom and get your perspective on the topics that matter most to your industry and organization.

Your time is valuable to us, and we want to make the most of it.

When you come prepared for a content call, we can get right to the heart of what matters most: your great ideas. Then, you can get back to running your business while we research, draft, and revise your content behind the scenes.

Taking a few actions in advance will help you prepare for our meeting. But don’t worry—none should require more than a few minutes.

Checklist for Preparing for a Content Conversation

Here’s a checklist to help you maximize our time together during a Content Conversation.

The Week of the Call

  • Explore the Editorial Calendar. We’ll build you an Editorial Calendar to map out upcoming content, note important dates, and bank ideas for future use. Before our scheduled call, take a look at what we have planned and what’s in the Content Vault, and spend a few minutes thinking about the topics we may cover. You needn’t write extensive notes, but having the potential topics fresh in your mind will help us dive right into our discussion.
  • Briefly brainstorm new ideas. If we don’t have anything planned in the Editorial Calendar, take five minutes to think about themes and trends you’re noticing in your business and industry. Consider what you’ve witnessed, experienced, and talked about with peers, and bring those ideas to our call.
  • Bring in your colleagues. Some topics will require a specialist to step in and give more detail than you might have at your fingertips. If you’re planning to discuss one of those topics, coordinate with a subject matter expert in your organization and have them join us for the call.
  • Plan to be present. Most people are pretty comfortable with virtual meetings these days, but following video conference best practices makes the Content Conversation run smoothly. Check your calendar and make sure you’ll be somewhere you can speak freely about your business. If you’re driving or distracted, it will be hard to give your best, and if you’re at a busy coffee shop, it might be hard for us to hear you. We encourage everyone to be on video so our writers can master tone and voice for your content marketing.

The Day of the Call

  • Show up and share. Show up ready to think and contribute as the subject matter expert. You’ve hired us to be an extension of your brilliance and brain—and we never want to put words in your mouth. When you come willing to answer questions, think through ideas, and tell your story, not only do our meetings fly by, but we can then produce high-quality content that conveys your knowledge and energy.

During the Call

  • Remember your readers. Our content leads will guide the Content Conversation and ask you questions to develop each piece, but it’s important that you speak with your target audience in mind. What do they need to know? What are their concerns? What problems do they need to solve? How can you help them? Centering your readers will help shape the content from the start.

Whenever You Can

  • Note new ideas. Inspiration can strike at any time, so if you get an idea for a blog post or social media concept, please make a note of it in your Editorial Calendar. There’s a Content Vault tab for this very reason—we want your ideas as they come to you! Jot them down so we can discuss them during our next Content Conversation.

While this interview method might feel strange to you at first, we’ve tested our signature process with over 75 clients and are confident that it works. You’ll see what we mean!
We look forward to sharing your story. Book a call with us to get started.
